Hey Brandi,
I've got a great idea for my business. What do I need to do to reach people so they can buy from me?
Whether you call it your audience, your customers, your tribe, or your buyers, your marketing should help you find more of them and make more from all of them. Before you worry about how to reach them, you need to make sure you know who they are.
Defining who your customers are will help you determine what channels to use to promote to make sure you’re making the best use of your precious, limited time. (You probably didn’t start your business so that you could spend all day on Facebook groups and creating email blasts.)
Before we get started, let's clear up one misconception:
Your audience isn't “everyone”.
It's so important, I want to say it again.
“Everyone” is the wrong answer to the question “Who is your audience?”
So, Brandi, what's the right answer?
I'm glad you asked! 🙂 Your audience is the people who have similar characteristics that your product or service can help. Figure out what your current customers have in common. Then, find out where they go for information, and you can focus your attention on those channels.
